1. INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
"Discover yourself, transform your world."
Individual therapy offers several key benefits. First, it provides a safe space for exploring your thoughts and feelings, leading to greater self-awareness and understanding. A counselor/therapist offers compassionate support to help you navigate challenges and cope with difficult emotions. You’ll also learn effective strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Additionally, counseling can assist you in identifying and working toward personal goals, fostering a sense of direction and purpose. By gaining insight into yourself, you can enhance communication and connection in your relationships. Lastly, working through challenges in therapy builds resilience, equipping you to face future difficulties with greater strength. Remember Healing is possible
i) Counseling a child
Supporting every child involves a holistic approach that addresses their unique needs, strengths, and challenges.
When parents or care-givers bring their child for counseling, I always look at what happened to the kid rather than branding them as angry child, misbehaved child or a non-performer. Every child I meet is unique. And I strongly believe it is the adult’s task to help them out by understanding what’s happening to them.
They can struggle with Academic issues, Digital and other addictions, Anger and Behavior management, Neurological disorders, emotional health issues, eating disorders, weight management, self-esteem and identity crisis, phobias, social anxiety to name some.
ii) Counseling an adult
Adult counseling can encompass the following. It can vary widely, depending on the individual's circumstances, emotional health challenges, and life experiences. Common areas where adults may seek counseling include:
-
Emotional Health Issues: Anxiety, depression, stress, and mood disorders.
-
Addictions: Substance Abuse which can be alcohol or drug misuse and some behavioral addictions, like gambling, compulsive shopping, or even eating disorders, where they feel driven to engage in certain behaviors despite negative impacts on their lives.
-
Anger management: involves recognizing triggers and learning healthy ways to express and control anger. Conflict resolution focuses on developing effective skills to navigate disagreements and reduce tension in relationships or the workplace. These approaches promote emotional balance and improve communication.
-
Life Transitions: Life deals with every individual uniquely and it might bring the below challenges where counseling will help. It can be: Empty Nest Syndrome (Coping with children leaving home or the transition to a more independent family life.) Midlife Crisis (Navigating self-reflection and dissatisfaction with life at midlife. Relocation or Moving: Adjusting to a new city, culture, or country.) Retirement (Finding purpose and meaning after the end of a career.)
-
Grief and Loss: Coping with the death of a loved one or significant life changes.
-
Self-Esteem and Identity: Struggles with self-worth, confidence, or personal growth.
-
Work-related Issues: Career stress, burnout, or difficulty managing work-life balance.
The approaches of CBT(Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and SFBT(Solution Focused Brief Therapy), Mindfulness techniques, DBT find predominant use and an eclectic model will be followed during the individual sessions.
2. COUPLES COUNSELING
"Improve communication to restore balance in your relationship"
When communication breaks down, it can be challenging to feel supported and understood by your partner. It often feels as though you’re battling each other instead of coming together to tackle the real issues. You may have attempted to resolve conflicts multiple times, yet it seems you can't find a solution that works for both of you. Couples who come to my office often feel defeated and on the brink of giving up. However, through our work together, you and your partner can learn to turn things around and reconnect. You will develop new skills and establish healthier patterns, rebuilding your relationship with understanding, love, and connection.
The approaches of Gottman method will be used predominantly along with CBT(Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and SFBT(Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
3. FAMILY COUNSELING
"Family is not an important thing, it’s everything." — Michael J. Fox
Family counseling helps address issues within the family dynamic, improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening relationships. It involves the participation of multiple family members to explore patterns of behavior, roles, and emotional responses. The goal is to promote understanding, healing, and better functioning as a unit.
The approaches of Narrative therapy and Communication based therapy will be used predominantly along with CBT(Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and SFBT(Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
4. GROUP COUNSELING
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." — Helen Keller
Group counseling involves a therapist leading a small group of individuals who share similar issues or concerns, such as anxiety, grief, or addiction. It provides a supportive environment where members can share experiences, gain insights, and learn from others. Group counseling fosters connection, reduces feelings of isolation, and promotes personal growth through shared support and diverse perspectives. This can be done for team motivation in a workplace or at school.
The approach of Communication based therapy will be used predominantly along with CBT(Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and SFBT(Solution Focused Brief Therapy). Conflict resolution, Active Listening skills and use of I statements will be emphasized.
